Zulte
is a
municipality
located in
Flanders
and in the
Flemish
province of
East Flanders
, in
Belgium
. The municipality comprises the towns of
Machelen
,
Olsene
and Zulte proper. On January 1st, 2004 Zulte had a total population of 14,548 (7,265 males and 7,283 females). The total area is 32.52
km²
which gives a
population density
of 447.31 inhabitants per km². The town used to brew its own beer since
1891
(simply called Zulte) but nowadays, they are part of
Alken-Maes
breweries. The main
football club
from Zulte merged with K.S.V. Waregem to form a
Belgian Second Division
team called
S.V. Zulte-Waregem
