ZirmedZirMed (A Louisville, KY based application service provider, specializes in electronic medical claims submission via the internet.) Beginning in 1999, ZirMed was the first in the world to offer browser based medical claim submission via the internet, with no requirement or preference to special software. ZirMed was created in 1999 during the 'dot-com' era by John Freeman and Ken Dicken. The service offered was simply, claims submission to insurance companies, but the shining point, was the fact that the users didn't need to be technically advanced. Previous solutions for electronic data interchange (EDI) required the user to buy special software, and memorize a lengthy process (or program scripts) to send their claims, and retrieve the payer responses. ZirMed changed all of that with it's all browser based approach. Over the years, ZirMed's service, as well as it's processes, have been refined and recoded to conform to the most bleeding edge standard of the technology line. Users can submit their claims in any format they like including, NSF 3,4,5,6, ANSI X12 (HIPAA Compliant), Print Image, or Pipe delimited among others. The ZirMed technology, breaks down the data in the file, and stores it via a very complex and proprietary database structure, known as Multi Value. Customers then get full status reports on the life cycle fo their claim. When it was submitted to the payer, what the response was from the payer, and tips on correcting errors if any are found. ZirMed has become a heavy-wight in the field of EDI, and as of 2005, is expanding it's horizons beyond claims, while keeping it's emphasis on customer service that is unsurpassed in the industry.
