Zirconium Tungstate

ZrW2O8, or Zirconium Tungstate is a metal oxide with unusual properties. It has negative thermal expansion characteristics, in that it shrinks over a wide range of temperatures when heated. Having tetrahedral and octahedral crystals, rubbing together causes the volume occupied to shrink.
