Zagreus

Greek mythology

Zagreus
was sometimes used as a name for
Dionysus
. Alternately, he may have been a separate deity, the son of
Zeus
with either
Demeter
or
Persephone
, who was killed when the
Titans
cut him into pieces. Some accounts say that he was reassembled and resurrected by Demeter; others, that Zeus fed his heart to
Semele
in a drink, making her pregnant with Dionysus. See also:
