The Yugoslav First League (Prva Liga) was the premier football league in the former Yugoslavia (1945-1991), and served the same role in Serbia and Montenegro before the country's name change (1991-2003). Over the years the Yugoslav First League featured many different teams, but there were always a number of teams that stood out, typically from the bigger cities. Among these were:
