Yourself or Someone Like You, the debut record album by Matchbox 20 contained five U.S. hit singles and sold over 11 millon copies in the U.S. alone. It also went multi-platinum in Canada and Australia. The band's pure, clean rock style is very much in the American mainstream, but not particularly imaginative, limiting its success to the U.S. and a few other English-speaking countries. The band's next two albums did not sell even a third as many copies as their stellar debut.
