Yoshitaka Amano

Yoshitaka Amano (天野 喜孝 Amano Yoshitaka, born July 28, 1952) is a Japanese artist. He was born in Shizuoka, and is most well-known worldwide for his work on the character designs for several games in the Final Fantasy series, as well as for his illustrations of the serial novel Vampire D by Hideyuki Kikuchi. He also illustrated The Sandman: The Dream Hunters, a re-telling of a Japanese fairytale by author Neil Gaiman. Amano's work is characterized by sweeping, flowing lines, especially when depicting hair and clothing. Much of his work is done with watercolor and ink, although he has used a variety of media in the past. Amano also appeared in the 1998 movie New Rose Hotel, in which he played the character Hiroshi.
