Yeren

The Yeren, variously referred to as the Yiren, Yeh Ren, Chinese Wildman, or Yen Hsiung ("man bear") is said to be an as yet undiscovered hominid residing in the mountainous regions of China's Hubei province. Its name comes from the Chinese words for "brutal" and "person" and is alternately known as the Wildman of Shennongjia or the Man-Monkey. Witnesses typically report the creatures to be covered in reddish brown hair, save for the hands and face, though pure white is not unheard of. Their height is estimated to range from five to seven feet. Regional officials have recorded nearly four hundred of these sightings since the 1920s. This supposed cousin of Bigfoot dwells in a region already rich with superstition and strange phenomena, including inordinate occurrence of albinism in the local fauna, adding to its mystique.
