Yellow Alert (Star Trek)Yellow Alert is a condition of increased readiness in the Star Trek fictional universe. Yellow Alert may be called on Starfleet starships, installations, regions, or the entire fleet. Yellow Alert can also be called for tactical situations that are below the point where Red Alert would be called. Ship captains call yellow alert in tactical situations where going to red alert would be seen as too aggressive. Furthermore, a ship on Yellow Alert will be prepared in case the status is upgraded to Red. Yellow Alert can also be called for certain shipboard problems, such as the failure of certain components. Examples would be propulsion, or structural integrity fields. When Yellow Alert is called, off duty crew are ordered to report to duty stations. However, unlike Red Alert, those currently asleep are not required to report. In addition, since the events depicted in (although it is not confirmed in canonical works), Yellow Alert also includes raising some of the deflector shields to prevent a similar sneak attack that struck the USS Enterprise in that film.
