The Yehat are a fictional race of beings featured in the science fiction Star Control computer game series.
  • Ship: Terminator
  • Homeworld: Gamma Serpentis I
  • Contacts: Humans, Shofixti, Pkunk, Ur-Quan
  • Quotes: "We have each betrayed the honor of our Clan, AWK!"
The Yehat are fearsome and honorable pterodactyl-like creatures who were allied with the Alliance of Free Stars (the protagonists) in Star Control I. Their main combat vessel, the infamous Yehat "Terminator," was a fearsome warship. Undoubtedly conceptualized and designed with space superiority in mind, its design was in the form of a half-moon, and it was usually painted in blue tones. Its main armament consisted of a pair of rapid fire cannons located in each of the "half-moon's" tips, and its main defense was in the form of an almost impenetrable energy shield, although the shield could only be activated for a couple of seconds before needing at least a half full energy battery recharge. The only munitions in the Star Control universe known to be able to tresspass this shield were the detestable Vux Intruder's parasites. The Terminator's handling characteristics were nothing short of amazing: Its turning rate was superb, its top speed was almost unmatched, and although its acceleration required some time, it was nothing that could be considered a serious tactical hindrance. Its crew complement was certainly suficient to withstand more than one engagement against an equal or probably against a more powerful foe. The high capacity of its energy banks provided the posibility of firing a barrage of shots which would almost ensure a hit, but if the full discharge was concentrated on a single target the results were devastating to the enemy vessel. In the original Alliance of the Free Stars, which was the group of races who opposed the opression of the Ur-Quan and their battle thralls, the Terminator was second in cost to the top weapon in the Alliance's arsenal, The Chenjesu's Broodhome (a cost of 23 vs 28 credits, respectively). However, the Terminator's combat effectiveness was certainly superior. In Star Control II, they had become Ur-Quan battle thralls, but once the protagonist brings them evidence that their adopted children, the Shofixti, are still alive, they will ally with the humans once again. The Pkunk are an offshoot of the Yehat race. Yehat life is governed by one Queen, who rules over the various Yehat Clans. Historically, this has been one from the Veep-Eep Clan, but at the end of Star Control II a Pkunk Queen was chosen.
