Yasumasa Fukushima

Yasumasa Fukushima (1852 - 1919) was a Japanese military leader. Baron Major General Fukushima was from a Samurai family and a brilliant Officer in the Japanese Army. He was thought to be the founder of the Kempei Tai (Secret Service). He saw service in the Boxer Rebellion (1900) where he was in command of Japanese Forces in T'ien Ching as well as the Foreign Legation. He served with distinction in the Sino-Soviet War (1904) and was most famously noted for his feat of riding non-stop from Berlin to Vladivostok gathering intelligence on the way. Richard La Tondre
