Yan Vyshatich

Yan Vyshatich (Ян Вышатич in Russian) (c. 1016 - June 24, 1106) was a Kievan nobleman and military commander (tysyatsky). Son of Vyshata and grandson of Ostromir. There isn't much information about Yan Vyshatich. In 1070s, Yan Vyshatich was collecting tribute for Sviatoslav II in a town of Beloozero, where he would suppress an uprising of the smerds. He took part in military campaigns against the Polovtsy and internecine wars. Yan Vyshatich's tales of his campaigns were used by the chroniclers and incorporated into the Primary Chronicle.
