Xingning (traditional Chinese: 興寧 simplified Chinese: 兴宁) is county-level city, under the jurisdiction of Meizhou, in the Guangdong province of the People's Republic of China.

Names

History

Xingning county was established in 331, and upgraded to a city in 1994.

Geography

Xingning is located at the east part of Guangdong province. The East River (Dongjiang River) and the Han River flow through it. Xingning borders Meixian, Fengshun, Wuhua, Longchuan, Pingyuan, and Xunwu of Jiangxi province. Xingning is the second largest city in east Guangdong, with an area of 2105 km^ 2 and a population of 1.13 million.
