XichangXichang is a city as well as an nearby space station and rocket launching site in the province itself SCN in China. It lies in the southwest of the country with the coordinates 28 north and 102 east and has 126,700 inhabitants (conditions 2004). The space station was placed 1984 finished and is appropriate for about 64 km northwest to the city. It is mainly inserted, in order to start communications satellites into the orbit. Starting from 1984 several copies of the rocket long march 3 were then started successfully into space. Further Chinese space stations are in Jiuquan and Taiyuan.
