X-claim Records

X-Claim Records was a early 80's hardcore punk record label based in the Boston area. X-Claim was founded by SS Decontrol guitarist Al Barile, but owned and operated by essentially nobody, and existing mostly as a name and a logo used by general consent. The X-Claim name is on five 12" vinyl records from 1982-83: All of the X-Claim bands later released material on other labels and, like many of their peers (especially in the Boston scene), toned down the hardcore elements in their sound in favor of a more hard-rock or heavy metal style. The bands' X-Claim records are in all cases generally considered their best work. The X-Claim LP's have all been reissued several times, with the exception of the two SSD LP's, which remain rare collectors items (with only a few thousand pressed of each). Bootlegs of these exist, but the only commonly available SSD material today is the Power record, which compiles material both from the band's hardcore records, and later, rockier (the majority opinion is 'suckier') ones. In later years, Al Barile has used the X-Claim label to release records by his current band, Gage.
