Wuvg-tvWUVG-TV is a television station in metro Atlanta, on analog TV channel 34, and DTV channel 48. The all-Spanish station is an affiliate of Univisin, and is owned by Univision Atlanta, LLC. Applied for in 1981, it went on the air as WNGM-TV in 1987, the callsign meaning "north Georgia mountains". It later moved closer to the metro area, becoming WHOT-TV in October 1999 and focusing on "Hotlanta", one of the city's nicknames. Effective November 2001, it became WUVG (Univision Georgia), and at the beginning of 2004 it became WUVG-TV. Despite still having the original Athens, Georgia as its city of license, the digital TV transmitter and antenna will be located near downtown Atlanta. This is also very unusual because the FCC normally requires analog and digital coverage to be nearly identical, which this station will not have. External links
