Wu San Gui

Wu San Gui was a Chinese general who invited the Manchu troops into Beijing during the last moments of the Ming Dynasty. Knowing that he would not be able to win the throne of China, he decided to surrender to the Manchu. He received titles and wealth from the Manchus after they conquered China. Wu San Gui was made a prince and given the power to administer Yunnan. During the early years of the Qing Dynasty, Wu San Gui spent most of his time searching the last heirs of the Ming Dynasty. When Emperor Kang Xi decided to curb the power of the princes, Wu San Gui revolted against the emperor. This event was known as the Revolt of the Three Feudal Princes. Wu San Gui was defeated by the imperial troops after eight years. Emperor Kang Xi had consolidated his power as an absolute monarch of China. Wu San Gui's son, Wu Ying Xiong, married a sister of Emperor Kang Xi.
