Wu Bangguo

Wu Bangguo (Traditional Chinese:吳邦國 , Simplified Chinese: 吴邦国, Hanyu Pinyin: W Bānggu) (born July 1941) is a Chinese politician. Born in Feidong County, Anhui Province, China. He is currently (2003) the chairman of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, ranking second in the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China hierarchy. He was formerly vice premier under Zhu Rongji, but his rocky relationship with the former premier ruled out his chance of becoming the head of government. See also: Politics of China
