Wpxh-tv

WPXH TV is the PAX TV affiliate of Birmingham/Anniston/Tuscaloosa market. The station is licensed out of Gadsden. The station originally began in mid 1990's as WNAL-TV, the Fox affiliate for the Anniston area. A major network switch occurred in 1996 in the Birmingham area, leaving high-power station WBRC-TV as the Fox affiliate. So, WNAL switched to CBS affiliation. This continued until 1998, when the Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, and Anniston television markets were consolidated into one. WNAL was forced to go independent, and was snatched up by Paxson Communications, owners of the fledgling PAX network. The station went to PAX shortly thereafter. The station, like many PAX affiliates, has entered into a local market agreement with WVTM-TV, to re-air NBC 13's 6pm and 10pm newscasts on a 30-minute delay.
