Worshipful Company Of Makers Of Playing CardsThe Worshipful Company of Makers of Playing Cards is one of the Livery Companies of the City of London. The Company was incorporated by a Royal Charter in 1628; the City granted it the status of a Livery Company in 1792. As cards have evolved from objects made by craftsmen to mechanically produced goods, the Company has lost its role as a trade association for card makers. Instead, the Company functions as a charitable institution. The Makers of Playing Cards' Company ranks seventy-fifth in the order of precedence for Livery Companies.
