Worlds Of UltimaThe Worlds of Ultima (also: Ultima: Worlds of Adventure) has been a short lived spin-off series of the well known computer role playing series Ultima. Worlds of Ultima: Savage Empire (1990) After Ultima VI, the Avatar is transported by a friend's failed experiment with Blackrock to the jungle valley of Eodon in another world, whose indigenous people were modeled on some of the aboriginal nations of Mesoamerica and tropical Africa. The player needs to understand and master some aspects of their stone-age tribal culture and their "jungle magic" to find a way to bring peace to the valley. Three of the Avatar's traditional companions have counterparts in Eodon, though it is unclear if they are supposed to be the exact same characters; they do, however, react when addressed by their traditional names. Iolo is Triolo, a shaman and the Avatar's companion from the moment he gains consciousness. Shamino is Shamuru, a wayward warrior adopted by the Baraka tribe, found fighting a small, rat-like animal in the jungle. Dupre is Dokray, a powerful warrior of the Pindiro tribe who has formed an intense rivalry with Ugyuk, a local hunter of the Neanderthal-like Haakur tribe. This game and the following use the Ultima VI game engine, with some improvements. They are among the best RPGs with "non-traditional" settings. Worlds of Ultima II: Martian Dreams (1991) The Avatar finds himself on a spaceship right from the pages of Jules Verne or H.G. Wells with various well-known persons from the late 1800s on board, such as Nellie Bly, Sigmund Freud, and Nicola Tesla, in a mission to rescue other important personalities of the Victorian era, who ended up in Mars due to sabotage on a ship during a guided tour.
