World Series 1952

Billy Martin saved the 1952 World Series for the New York Yankees.

In the bottom of the seventh inning of Game 7 of the 1952 World Series, the Yankees had a 4-2 lead. Two were out, three on. Jackie Robinson lifted an offering by Yankee Reliever Bob Kuzava high near the pitcher's mound. An easy out. But first baseman Joe Collins lost the ball in the sun, and Kuzava most of the Yankee infield were mesmerized by the pop fly, unable to move.

Except Billy Martin. As Dodgers burned the basepaths -- with two already having crossed the plate and a third rounding third, Martin raced in from second base and made a knee high desperation snag. Kuzava cruised the next two innings to victory.
