Woodworm Records

Fairport Convention disbanded (temporarily as it turned out) in 1979, partly because Dave Swarbrick's hearing was deteriorating. The band staged a farewell concert in Cropredy, Oxfordshire, an event that was to grow into the Cropredy Festival. Fairport's most recent record deal had come to and end and no record company wanted to release the live album of the farewell concert. So bass guitarist Dave Pegg and his wife Christine formed Woodworm Records to release the album. Woodworm Records soon grew and released albums by Fairport and, later, by other artists like Dave Swarbrick. During 2004, the Peggs were divorced: one result was that the studio was sold and the record label put on hold. Members of Fairport Convention decided to form a new label, Matty Grooves Records, to take over Woodworm Records's role. So far, one album has been released on the label: Over The Next Hill by Fairport Convention.
