Wolverhampton VarsityThe Wolverhampton Varisty is a City Centre pub and live venue, part of the Varsity chain of public houses. The Varsity's promotions and marketing are aimed at students, being situated on the same block as some of the main University of Wolverhampton buildings. Its "pound night" every Thursday (when some drinks are 1, less than half the usual price for most beverages) is especially popular, having become a weekly ritual for many of Wolverhampton's residents and students over the first few years of the 21st century. As a live venue with a capacity of around 250, it has seen successful acts like Incubus, One Minute Silence and Pitchshifter, many of whom then went on to national and international success in record sales and tours. On the first Wednesday of every month, local comedian Dave Powner hosts a comedy night called "Giggle".
