Wolfgang Eduard Schneiderhan

) is a
classical
violinist
. He was born in
Vienna
, studied there, and in 1926 made his debut in
Copenhagen
playing the
Mendelssohn
violin concerto
. He was concertmaster of the
Vienna Symphony Orchestra
from 1933 to 1937, and later led the
Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra
. He formed a
string quartet
, played in a
piano trio
with
Edwin Fischer
and
Enrico Mainardi
, and became known as a soloist. He held teaching posts in
Salzburg
,
Vienna
and
Lucerne
. Schneiderhan was the husband of the
soprano
Irmgard Seefried
