WMMR is a hard rock radio station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, broadcasting at 93.3 MHz FM. The station is one of the most recognized rock music stations in the nation. Among its listeners, it often is referred to simply as 'MMR'. Throughout its existence, WMMR has broadcast many live rock music shows and interviewed many leading rock music stars. The station has helped elevate some of the nation's leading bands, and was one of the first stations to play prominent rock music acts such as Bruce Springsteen, Grateful Dead, U2 and Van Halen. The station also has featured many local rock music acts, such as George Thorogood, helping elevate them to national status in the music industry. Dee Snider, formerly of the rock band Twisted Sister, is one of the notable personalities at the station. Snider hosts his show evenings on WMMR Monday through Friday. While WMMR is one of the recognized rock music stations in the nation, Philadelphia has many rock music stations. WMMR's primary competitor is WYSP, which broadcasts at 94.1 MHz FM.
