WJBK is the FOX affiliate in Detroit, Michigan. Its transmitters along with its studios are located in Southfield, Michigan. It signed on in 1948 as a CBS station. While it dropped that affiliation and took on the FOX affiliation in 1994, the station maintained a newscast schedule that is very similar to a CBS, ABC, or NBC affiliated station. The exception is the station broadcasts its late evening news at 10 PM rather than at 11 PM. The station is known in the area for its "Problem Solver" investigative unit that was started in 1998.
