on channel 40, programming consists entirely of
MTV2
, one of the few
cable
networks
that can be seen
over the air
. As
WIRE-LP
(before the
upgrade

class A
), it was

. It was originally assigned
W13CQ
on channel 13 in May of
1992
, but its
construction permit
expired in December
1993
without being built. It came back again as
W40BI
on channel 40, assigned in August
1995
. It went on the air the
following year
in September as WIRE-LP, and became WIRE-CA in September
2001
. Currently at 14

at a location near
Georgia 400
in northeast
Atlanta
, it has a permit to move somewhat southeast toward
Druid Hills
, and increase
power
to 150kW. The old antenna has a
null
to the west, however the new
omnidirectional antenna
will cover most of the core
metro area
. It is unknown whether the programming will change.
