WinstrolStanozolol, sold under the name Winstrol, is a synthetic anabolic steroid. Winstrol's legal use is confined to veterinary applications. Unlike most injectable anabolic steroids, it is not esterified and it is sold as an aqueous suspension. Winstrol can be absorbed via oral consumption and as such it is also sold in tablet form. It's oral bioavailability is due to a C17 alpha alkylation which allows the hormone to survive liver metabolism when ingested. It is commonly used in within bodybuilding but only as part of a 'stack' of other anabolic steroids, almost always with testosterone as the base of the stack. Ben Johnson was stripped of his gold medal in the 100 meters at the 1988 Summer Olympics when he controversially tested positive for this drug after winning the final.
