Winnipeg Fringe Theatre FestivalThe Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival is an annual alternative theater festival held in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It is 12 days long, which makes it the longest fringe festival in North America. Founded in 1987 by the Manitoba Theatre Centre, it is one of Winnipeg's most popular cultural events. The 2003 Fringe drew 142,900 attendees and featured performers from Canada, the United States, Scotland, and the United Kingdom. The Executive Producer is Nick Kowalchuk. The fringe movement began in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1947 and has since expanded around the world.
