Windows Media
Windows Media
is a framework for media creation and distribution for
Microsoft Windows
. It consists of a
software development kit
with several
application programming interfaces
and a number of prebuilt technologies. The following are part of Windows Media:
Windows Media Player
Advanced Streaming Format
(ASF)
Windows Media Audio
(WMA)
Windows Media Video
(WMV)
The media formats have support for
digital rights management
. An analysis of an earlier version of the DRM scheme in Windows Media Audio revealed that it was using a combination of
elliptic curve cryptography
key exchange,
DES
block cipher, a custom block cipher,
RC4
stream cipher and the
SHA-1
hashing function.
