Windir

Windir (Primal Warrior in English) was a black metal band from Sogndal, Norway. The band combined black metal with Norwegian folkmusic and mythology. The band was formed in 1994 but did not debut until 1997. As is often the case in black metal bands it was the project of one man: Terje "Valfar" Bakken. They produced four albums in their almost ten years of existence each more complex and successful. Valfar's death, frozen amidst the hills of Sogndal in 2004, put an end to the story. The other members of the band have since then created a new band called Vreid, continuing Valfar's ambition.
