Windermere House

The Windermere House is a historic hotel and resort located in Windermere, Ontario in the Muskoka region. It is known as The Lady of the Lakes. It was built in 1870 in Victorian style, originally as a boarding house, and overlooks Lake Rosseau. The then-127-year-old Windermere House burned to the ground during the filming of The Long Kiss Goodnight in February 1996. Production equipment lights were blamed for the fire although it was never proven that was the cause. The Windermere House was rebuilt and restored to its original glory in 1997.
