William Mure

William Mure (1799 - 1860) was a Scottish scholar and politician. The laird of Caldwell, Ayrshire, he was educated at Westminster School, Edinburgh, and Bonn. He sat in Parliament as member for Renfrewshire 1846-55. He was a sound classical scholar, and published A Critical History of the Language and Literature of Ancient Greece in five volumes between 1850 and 1857).
