William Hurt

William Hurt (born March 20, 1950) is an American actor. Born in Washington, DC, he is the stepson of Henry Luce, the founder of Time Magazine. He studied theology when young, but turned to acting after attending the Juilliard School. He appeared on stage, then debuted in films in the starring role in Altered States. He has also appeared in Eyewitness, Body Heat, The Big Chill, Kiss of the Spider Woman (winning the Academy Award for Best Actor), Children of a Lesser God (Oscar nomination), Broadcast News (another Oscar nomination), Gorky Park, The Accidental Tourist, I Love You to Death and Alice. Fluent in the French language, he maintains a home outside Paris, France where he lives with actress Sandrine Bonnaire with whom he has a daughter.
