William Fremd High School

William Fremd High School, or "Fremd" for short, is located on 1000 South Quentin Rd. in Palatine, Illinois. Fremd was founded in 1962 and was then known as Palatine High School South. It was the second high school to be built in Palatine, Illinois after Palatine High School. The original intentions of the District 211 school board was to have Fremd, or Palatine South at the time, serve as the school for juniors and seniors while Palatine High School was the school for freshmen and sophomores. This plan only lasted a few years before Fremd was expanded to serve as a 4 year high school. The current principal is Dr. Marina D. Scott. Its official mascot is the Viking, and its colors are green and gold.

Notable graduates

Notable Fremd graduates include Major League Baseball catcher Todd Hundley, who briefly held the single-season home run record for catchers, Mallory Snyder from The Real World II, movie producer Rob Loenz, and television personality Dana Kozlov, general assignment reporter for CBS 2 Chicago. Two former Fremd students were responsible for the infamous Brown's Chicken Massacre. http://abclocal.go.com/wls/features/IT_82800_brownchickenexclusive.html
