William F. Garrison

William F. Garrison is a former Major General of the United States Army. He resigned on August 2, 1996; one day later after General Mohamed Farrah Aidid died. Garrison was the commanding officer of Operation Gothic Serpent; the unsucessful military operation launched in 1993 to capture Aidid. Garrison was portrayed by Sam Shepard in the film Black Hawk Down, which chronicles the events of the Battle of Mogadishu.
