Whole Earth ReviewWhole Earth Review is the former name of a magazine once known as Co-Evolutionary Quarterly and now known as Whole Earth. Their website states - Issues 1 - 43 are CoEvolution Quarterly
- Issues 44 -89 are Whole Earth Review
- Issues 90 and following are Whole Earth Magazine
CoEvolution Quarterly was founded by Stewart Brand in 1974, with proceeds from The Whole Earth Catalog. Brand also found the Point Foundation and is active the Global Business Network. Whole Earth Review's motto was Access to tools and ideas. While the Whole Earth Catalog was created to serve the practical needs of California communes, Whole Earth Review has always been at the forefront of technological innovation, being the first to publish articles about space colonization and molecular nanotechnology. Whole Earth also established in 1985 the Whole Earth 'Lectronic Link, also known as "The WELL" one of the pioneering online communities on the internet. Editors Kevin Kelly and Howard Rheingold both went on to become influential figures in technology. Whole Earth is now defunct, according to Utne Reader. Whole Earth did a good job of taking their last issue (Spring, 2003, edited by Alex Steffen), and putting it into Portable Document Format. External link *The WELL now a part of Salon.com
