Whiteleys

Whiteleys is a famous shopping centre located in the Bayswater area of London (UK)). The main entrance to the centre is on Queensway. The building that houses the shopping centre was designed by John Belcher and J Joass, and was opened by the Mayor of London in 1912. Although Whiteleys was closed down in 1981, it was later bought by the Whiteleys Partnership and refurbished by them in 1986. It was later bought by the Standard Life Assurance Company and on 26th July 1989 it was re-opened to the public. Whiteleys was originally owned by, and named after, the family of William Whiteley.
