Jonathan Rivers (played by Keaton) is a succesful architect, and lives a peaceful life with his wife Anna (played by West), until her unexpected and sudden disappearance. Eventually, he is contacted by a man (played by McNiece) claiming that his wife is dead, and that he has recorded messages from Anna through EVP. While Jonathan is initially dismissive, he begins to believe that the recorded voice is indeed that of his wife.
