Whitaker's Almanack

Whitaker's Almanack (spelling is correct) is a reference book which is published annually in the United Kingdom. It was established in 1868 and consists of a great many lists and tables on a great range of subjects, such as education, government and military matters, most of which provide detailed contemporary facts. It is not an encyclopedia. It covers the United Kingdom in great detail and other parts of the world to a lesser degree. It is something of an "establishment" volume with a fairly hefty price tag, over thirteen hundred pages and a great deal of "official" information.
