Wheeler Peak (New Mexico)

Wheeler Peak is the highest peak in the state of New Mexico in the United States of America, with an elevation of 13,161 feet (4,011 m). Wheeler Peak was formerly called Taos Peak, named after the nearby town of Taos, New Mexico. Wheeler Peak is a part of the Southern Rocky Mountains, which stretch from southern New Mexico north into Colorado. The other noteworthy peak in the vicinity is Mt. Walter, the second highest peak in New Mexico.
