The racial makeup of the town is 98.12% White, 0.49% African American, 0.21% Native American, 0.24% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.27% from other races, and 0.67% from two or more races. 0.97% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,209 households out of which 36.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.0% are married couples living together, 9.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.1% are non-families. 20.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
