What Women Want

What Women Want is a 2000 romantic comedy film, directed by Nancy Meyers. It stars Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt.

Plot

Mel Gibson plays an advertising executive who has a bathroom accident which results in him acquiring the ability to hear women's thoughts, i.e. he knows "What Women Want". He then uses this to his advantage. To his horror, though, that also means he can hear the innermost thoughts of his teenage daughter (Ashley Johnson), who is staying with him while her mother is away on honeymoon, having just remarried. Alan Alda has a small role in this film, as does Marisa Tomei.
