Westport is a city located in Grays Harbor County, Washington. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 2,137.

History

Westport was officially incorporated on June 26, 1914.

Geography

  is located at 46°53'27" North, 124°6'36" West (46.890803, -124.109926). 
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.0 km² (4.2 mi²). 9.3 km² (3.6 mi²) of it is land and 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 14.86% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 2,137 people, 983 households, and 547 families residing in the city. The population density is 229.2/km² (592.9/mi²). There are 1,358 housing units at an average density of 145.6/km² (376.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 92.75% White, 0.33% African American, 3.09% Native American, 0.94% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.47% from other races, and 2.39% from two or more races. 2.99% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 983 households out of which 23.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.9% are married couples living together, 8.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 44.3% are non-families. 34.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.16 and the average family size is 2.79. In the city the population is spread out with 22.0% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 24.8% from 25 to 44, 27.3% from 45 to 64, and 19.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 43 years. For every 100 females there are 98.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 91.9 males. The median income for a household in the city is $32,037, and the median income for a family is $40,037. Males have a median income of $33,173 versus $23,889 for females. The per capita income for the city is $17,362. 14.3% of the population and 9.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 23.4% of those under the age of 18 and 4.6% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
