Geography Westhope is located at 48°54'39" North, 101°1'12" West (48.910814, -101.020046). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²). 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 533 people, 228 households, and 134 families residing in the city. The population density is 643.1/km² (1,663.5/mi²). There are 268 housing units at an average density of 323.4/km² (836.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 98.31% White, 0.00% African American, 0.94% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.75% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 228 households out of which 23.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.4% are married couples living together, 5.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 41.2% are non-families. 40.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 24.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.14 and the average family size is 2.90. In the city the population is spread out with 20.5% under the age of 18, 4.9% from 18 to 24, 19.5% from 25 to 44, 26.8% from 45 to 64, and 28.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 48 years. For every 100 females there are 87.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 82.0 males.
