Western Democracy Party
The
Western Democracy Party
was a short-lived political party in
Manitoba
,
Canada
. In October
1979
, two candidates stood for the party in
Winnipeg
-area by-elections for the
Manitoba legislature
.
William Hawryluk
(who was probably the party's leader) received 19 votes in
Fort Rouge
, and
Linda J. Penner
received 39 votes in
Rossmere
. It is not entirely clear what ideology the party represented, although Hawryluk was previously a candidate of the
Social Credit Party
, and later promoted a fiscally conservative agenda as a fringe candidate for
Mayor
of
Winnipeg
