Western Canada Concept Party Of Saskatchewan

The Western Canada Concept Party of Saskatchewan was a provincial political party that was the Saskatchewan, Canada branch of the Western Canada Concept, a federal political party that advocated the separation of the four western provinces of Canada (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba) to form a new country. In February 1986, Bill Sveinson and Lloyd Hampton (two maverick former Progressive Conservative Members of the Legislative Assembly), joined the Western Canada Concept Party. The WCC was recognized by the legislature as the official Third Party. The WCC was split over whether to accept Sveinson and Hampton into the party: the party leader was in favour, while the party president was opposed. Within a few months, however, the WCC kicked both Sveinson and Hampton out of the party. Sveinson had also been kicked out of the Saskatchewan Liberal Party the previous year.
