Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,287 people, 460 households, and 352 families residing in the town. The population density is 13.5/km² (34.9/mi²). There are 485 housing units at an average density of 5.1/km² (13.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.82% White, 0.31% African American, 0.16% Native American, 0.47% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.39% from other races, and 0.85% from two or more races. 0.85% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 460 households out of which 36.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.8% are married couples living together, 4.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.3% are non-families. 19.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.80 and the average family size is 3.24.
