Welsh Assembly Election 2007The Welsh Assembly Election 2007 is scheduled to take place in May 2007. In the UK in general, there is a tradition that elections are held on the first Thursday in May thus the date of the next Assembly Elections will be 3 May. The poll will decide the incumbency for all the assembly's seats. It will be the third election for seats in the National Assembly for Wales, (previous elections in 1999 and 2003) and will be the last undertaken under the electoral rules established by the Government of Wales Act 1998 following Welsh devolution in 1997. Subsequent elections, and the powers of the resultant assembly, will be conducted on revised rules based partly on the findings of the independent commission under Baron Richard of Ammanford which adovcate an expansion of the Assembly from 60 AM's to 80 AM's all elected under the Single Transferable Vote.
